Dubai drivers are set to enjoy significantly faster journeys after the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) unveiled a major new bridge on Al Qudra Road, one of the city’s busiest traffic corridors.
The latest infrastructure upgrade is part of Dubai’s ongoing commitment to improving road networks, reducing congestion, and supporting the emirate’s growing population. According to the RTA, the newly opened bridge has already reduced travel times by more than half while dramatically increasing road capacity.
Stretching 600 metres in length, the bridge features four lanes in each direction and serves as a key link along the Al Qudra Road corridor. The route extends from the intersection with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, passes Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street and Emirates Road, and continues towards several major residential and leisure destinations.

Faster Commutes for Thousands
One of the biggest benefits of the new bridge is the substantial reduction in travel times for motorists.
According to figures released by the RTA, the project has increased traffic capacity by an impressive 191 percent. This enhancement has helped reduce average delays from nearly two minutes to just 52 seconds, representing a travel time improvement of approximately 55 percent.
For residents living in nearby communities such as Arabian Ranches, Dubai Studio City, and surrounding areas, the impact is expected to be immediately noticeable. These neighbourhoods have experienced rapid expansion over recent years, resulting in increased traffic volumes during peak hours.

The upcoming bridge will span approximately 700 metres and include two lanes in each direction. It is specifically designed to serve vehicles travelling from Al Qudra Road towards Al Qudra City, helping to streamline traffic movement and reduce pressure on surrounding roads.
Together, the two bridges are expected to create a more efficient transportation network while supporting future development across western Dubai.
The phased approach allows authorities to continue improving traffic conditions while minimising disruption for road users.

Speaking about the project, His Excellency Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority, highlighted the long-term importance of the development.

Al Tayer also noted that the project supports uninterrupted traffic movement along Al Qudra Road in both directions, improving access to Emirates Road and Al Qudra City while maintaining high road safety standards.
